This outting was with the Miller family that came to visit the Philppines to do research for the ACE Academy. ACE was started by a millionaire member of the church that owns Western Watts, a call center in Utah and here in the Philippines. The academy has helped over 3500 RM's learn basic entrepreneurial and leadership skills. The students travel on their own dime to Cebu for a 2 month course learning how to write a business plan, what it takes to start up a business, and they actually start a mini business while they are here. James Fantone that is John Stocks former mission companion that we have mentioned many times in the blog runs the academy. I have also been asked to speak to the students on my experiences as being an entrepreneur which was fun.

Ron Miller is a BYU Hawaii professor that teaches statistics and other related courses. He and his family of 6 children travel each summer to do projects like the one for ACE. They have been to Tonga for two summers and also to China for a summer. This year it was doing studies on how effective the ACE program really is. The outcome was positive and they have statistical proof that ACE graduates make more money and are more active in the church.
Jill and the kids had a lot of fun doing activities with the Miller family. They met on many occations to go swimming or do fun activities like the Crazy Donuts factory to decorate donuts. Jill enjoyed talking to someone from the US who also home schools here children. The Ashton, Savannah, and Jonah had loads of fun playing with children they could understand and really relate with. I also enjoyed speaking to Ron on several occations when they came over for dinner or when we visited their place for family night. Ron is also going to see if he can help me in my forex trading with some new high tech statistical models to try to predict the near future - we will see. It is fun to other families that give so much just for the experience of it all. Ron came with a group of students from BYU Hawaii and provided his services for free for the project as he has done with all the other projects. Ron also met with the area church authorities to share their findings to help better the training and sheparding of the Filipino people. All-in-all we had fun while they were here and it was sad to see them go back to Hawaii.

The donut factory was an outting that remind us a great deal of events at home. The little shop showed the kids how to make donuts and had free donuts to decorate at the end. As you can see, Jonah was good at decorating his face as well as the donut. It was a fun outting!
