My New Calling Part 2
This month I received a second calling. During our ward conferance priesthood meeting the 1st councelor in the Stake Presidency moved to the back of the room where I was maintaining Cyrus. He asked if he could speak with me for a moment. Of course I knew that this ment a calling in the stake. Being in a stake calling before the many options went through my mind. After some small talk, I was called to the High Council. The calling did come as a suprise especially coming from the councelor. Nevertheless, I did accept the call.
I asked for special permission to have my father-in-law, Dean Davies, ordain me to the office of a High Priest as I am currently an Elder. Dean will be here in Cebu the 2nd week of July to check on the progress of the Cebu temple. The Stake Presidency said that would be fine. I know the Stake President well as he and the 2nd counselor are both in my ward. The first time I met him, I had a strong impression that he was going to call me to the high council.
I have already spoken in church and attended several high council meetings. My Stake assignment is the Young Men, so I will retain my calling in my current ward as well. This should make for a great adventure and a need to learn the Cebuano language soon.
I am excited to serve in this part of the Lord's vineyard. The gospel is true, even in the Philippines, and there is much work to be done.
