Friends!
We go on at least one walk a day here, but I had yet to meet any other families like ours (let alone meet anyone except the drivers and security guards that wait outside in the garages). Until today!
I was on a walk with Jonah and Cyrus and saw an American couple and their children at the clubhouse. I decided to be brave and go introduce myself. I actually had seen the woman holding her baby from a window once and waved to her.
They are from Kentucky and have been here for almost a year. The great news is that they have six children ranging in age from 1 year to 9 years old. They were at the clubhouse watching their two daughters have private gymnastics lessons (their life in the states sounds similar to ours, but as we discussed, these are the type of fun things you can afford to do here!)
It was so fun to talk to them about life here. Their children attend the nearby international school. The wife, Missy, does not have yayas (nannys) either, so all around it was so refreshing to not only find an American family, but one that seems to live life similarly to us. I had heard of them as the sister of our house help, Glessie, is their house help. They also told me Glessie used to work one day a week for them so they were able to recommend her as well.
It sounds like they have quite a few friends and connections here already, esp through his work, but I'm hopeful we can get to know them better. They invited us to come to their son's birthday (he's turning 6) next Saturday, so that should be a lot of fun!

Yeah for meeting another ex-pat family. You'll find that they will become your friends for life!
Is Nathaniel (who caught the frog) one of their kids? It is so nice to find friends in a new place!
